In an effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus and keep our musicians and audience safe, the upcoming concert CPE BACH: The Last Sufferings of Christ on March 26th has been postponed.
New York Baroque Incorporated joins The Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys once again by for the wonderful and under-performed ‘stile galant’ oratorio by J. S. Bach’s illustrious son, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Die letzten Leiden des Erlösers (The Last Sufferings of Christ) was first performed in 1770, and was performed in C.P.E. Bach’s native Hamburg every year until 1785. Contemplative and dramatic by turns, this piece offers a beautiful introduction to the spirituality of the season.
